This rotator cuff repair surgery leaves me one handed for 6 weeks. Thankfully, my Christmas present was a bidet. Yes, hands down (pun intended), best gift ever. I am an optimist by nature and love to find the positives in life. I have realized that one fall, tear, or accident can set you back for years. I have always believed it’s important to look after our bodies by our diet, exercise, and spirit. We are not sure how the tear happened, but we learned that those over 60 years of age have a 50% chance of a shoulder tear or partial tear. We have met so many that have traveled this injury and I can honestly say that I now have so much sympathy.
What possibly can be good about having surgery on a Rotator Cuff tear? I can name a few! After 7 years of growing hemp and selling CBD products, I have never really needed to rely on our products. Sure, I have smoked hemp for muscle and nerve pain, I frequently drink lots of our Hemp Tea and I use our CBD on the Go for muscle pain and burns. Then l hit crisis mode with my damaged shoulder, and I have been a frequent user of our 50mg CBD capsules. I have been taking 100mg (2 capsules) a day post-surgery for pain management and to help me stay asleep. The capsules are a very effective sleep aid and helps relieve the pain. I am also using our CBD Essential Gel for topical pain applying every few hours as needed.
I have been grateful to be getting weekly time with my daughter, Anna, for Manual Lymphatic Drainage, which is great for pre- and post-surgery to speed up recovery!
This post surgery down-time has allowed me to learn about our various movie and tv apps. I really did not know what our programs offered and how to work them. Now we have streamlined our apps and I can successfully find our desired show.
Learning to sleep in a recliner has been a big challenge as different positions pull on the incisions and anchors. One plus is our sweet cats think that I am now their new sleeping buddy.
Peter, my personal nurse, has really stepped up to the job. Wow, I sure did something right 32 years ago taking Peter as my husband. I was also successful in getting in a long-needed visit from my sweet mother without big distractions. Below is a picture of her helping me put my hair up. It’s the little things.
