In our previous Newsletter, we mentioned the foundational principles of regenerative agriculture, emphasizing the importance of the soil – the heartbeat of farming. As we turn a new leaf this October, we transition our focus to the incorporation of animals within our agricultural framework.

The Vital Role of Animals in Agriculture: Animals are not merely bystanders in the farming process; they are active contributors. Their integration includes:

1. Enhances soil fertility through natural waste.
2. Stimulates plant growth and heightens productivity.
3. Supports nutrient cycling and fortifies the carbon cycle.

Relying solely on farming without animal interaction amplifies our dependence on synthetic fertilizers. Such dependencies lead to the contamination of our waterways and degrading our fertile soils, damaging the essential biodiversity underground. When managed holistically, utilizing grazing animals, rejuvenates compromised ecosystems and aids in sequestering carbon within the earth.

We’re proud to share that several animals have become a permanent feature of our farming practices. Our next step? Bring in more livestock. Fencing has been our challenge, but most of our fields now boast not just standard fencing, but also electric barriers. A gentle lesson was all it took for our goats to respect these boundaries.

Harvest Highlights: With the harvest season behind us, we’re excited about the yield. Three of our best 2023 Flowers are currently undergoing their 3rd party lab testing. We will let you know the results of that as soon as we receive them. Here’s what you can anticipate:

• Hand-harvested, dried and trimmed in-house.

• An assurance that our product remains within the confines of our farm, guaranteeing optimal freshness and authenticity.

Smoked Flower Reviews:

Hawaiian Haze 2023: One word could encapsulate this experience: WOW! However, the Hawaiian Haze deserves more. With an aroma reminiscent of a zesty orange grove, this flower offers a velvety smoke that instantly alleviates pain and uplifts mood.

Lifter 2023: Upon unwrapping Lifter, one is greeted by an invigorating scent of freshly sliced fruit. This excitement extends to the taste – a refined grape-like finish that’s exceptionally smooth. Beyond its delightful sensory attributes, Lifter gives a euphoric aura, ensuring a big smile on your face.

Special Sauce 2023 (YEAR 6 of Special Sauce, it’s a favorite): ‘Fresh’ encapsulates the essence of Special Sauce. Its tantalizing aroma and flavor tempt one for another sampling. Not just a treat for the senses, smoking it also treated my joint and muscle discomfort. It put me in the mood for a stroll through nature. Highly recommend this strain for anyone dealing with joint/muscle soreness or stiffness.

The Western Monarch, like other butterfly species, is very specific about its nest. They lay their eggs only on this perennial plant with tiny star-shaped flowers, and monarch caterpillars won’t feed on anything else. Western monarch numbers have plummeted by more than 99 percent—from 4.5 million in the mid-1980s to about 2,000 in 2020. If you can tell from our photo, bees also love the Milkweed flowers!
